Interesting. Makes me wonder what former German colonies would look like if they stayed German.

Eventually they would become independent too although there would still be a German legacy. Perhaps German would be the administrative language. It is also possible that Germany would have it's own Commonwealth (Deutschsprächiger Weltbund, Germanophone World League?).

Also there would be some forms of cultural and economic ties to Germany. It could be quite interesting.
