Should Sleswig-Holstein be rendered as 'Slesvig-Holsten' in Danish, or am I just being weird?

Excuse me, but you have named the wrong island "Ösel"; it is the larger, southern island that is Ösel a.k.a. Saaremaa - the smaller, northern island is called Dagö or Hiiumaa. And I think that it had seemed more credible if all Estonia had been a part of either Denmark or (preferably) Sweden, if Finland had been a part of the Kingdom of Sweden and if Iceland had been a part of either Denmark or (preferably) Norway. But what do I know, I'm just Swedish...

Very nice map, I love these sorts of maps and it's a shame they don't make them like this anymore. Come to think of it, have you ever thought about doing a modern day version of this map? With the current, actual borders? That'd be really cool too. You've done such a map of Europe but what about one focused on these northern states?

Lovely style to the map.

I do wonder tho, I don't know the alternate history behind the map, but I can't help to wonder when it would have been lost (historicaly it was lost during the Winter War).

It doesn't seem to have been incorporated into Norway.

I think Finland is supposed to be 'Suomi' if your referring to their natives language lol

The map is in the official administrative language, Danish - including the names of the constituent kingdoms.

What is the capital of the Empire? The map is very nice, I like both the choice of colors as well as the variation in texture and that somewhat weathered look.

Each constituent kingdom of the empire has its own capital. The central administration of the empire would be in Copenhagen though.

This is wonderful.
In the Icelandic names though, I believe the 's should have their capital form: .

How do you "brown" the paper? With Coffee?

In this case the browning is done with a texture.

If I were to brown a physical piece of paper I would use tea or coffee.

I actually thought about adding the Nicobar Islands, the Gold Coast, Tranquebar and Serampore but I didn't do it since they were really small trading posts and since there was no room for more colonies :)

Heh. It's perfectly fine as it is: I am just referencing the alternate history map tendency to assign the Congo to some random country as a colonizer (Belgium? Really??)

Iceland must be where English got the word Island

Actually it comes from word Old English word igland, ig comes from Latin aqua, both meaning water. So it's actually water land.

What? On what basis do you draw that conclusion? What I've read only seems to indicate that it comes from Old Norse "ss", ie. "ice".

Why would the name of Iceland be derived from Old English?

I meant that the word island comes from igland.
