What if the US turned communist at some point in history. Here is my guess at how the national flag of the United Socialist Council Republics of America and the flag of the 50 states would look like.

I really like the coat-of-arms design, I could definitely imagine it on the back of a U.S. half Dollar or a Dollar with perhaps the American eagle on the reverse holding a hammer and sickle/scythe in it's talons

It looks pretty nice, but for some of the older East Coast Flags, I would have gone for more of a change from the existing ones. Another is Minnesota's, where the main blue color is a reference to the state's name in Dakota.

I wonder how the states of this alternate America get along? If I was totally realistic about it, the states might compete with one another in this alternate world over land, resources and even rights but in a more Cold War style scenario, I think the states would be nothing more than a joke to keep the people content while one central government pulls the strings. But of course it is the creator of this picture that ultimately decides how his world works. Those where just my ideas.

Like what you did with Kentucky's. It's a lot like what we have now and the message we at least tried to protray of all types of people working together to make the state run well. (Think we forgot that and now just deevolved though......)

Oh, teah, because slavery totally still exists in the 21st century and blacks have no rights what so ever on a global scale. Sure ... I own and hang a Confederate States national flag because I respect and honor the Americans that founded their own government and stood against the tyranny that our own government still takes part in. I like this collection of national and state flags, and I really like the name “Socialist Council Republic” (which is much more plausible than the introduction of the unfamiliar word “soviet”).

I admire the “worn” look of the image, which instantly invokes the image of an elementary school classroom, with a USCRA flag hanging in the corner.

I think it would have been a good touch if the Pledge of Allegiance had simply been the original version, as composed by Socialist pastor Francis Bellamy:

“I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands,
one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Every morning, the students recite the Pledge, and once a month they sing the national anthem, which would either be America the Beautiful or the Internationale:

All people are created equal
With rights to life and liberty

And remake it by their hand!
So brothers come, and sisters

Mt "Red Oregon" flag is, of course, simply the image from the back of the Oregon state flag. In all sincerity, I do think that the Oregon flag could be vastly improved by just using the back of the flag as the front. Just, y'know, in blue.
